Allahabad Sightseeing
00 Nights / 01 Days Tour Code : Allahbad Prayagraj - 01
Upon reaching Allahabad station you will be greeted by our tour representative who then escorts you for a city tour of Allahabad. The first in our sightseeing agenda comes the Triveni Sangam. This is the confluence point of three rivers, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati each maintaining its distinct identity in terms of the distinct color of the waters. Triveni Sangam makes the venue for Kumbh Mela, once in every 12 years. Take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam to get rid of your mortal sins and feel blessed. After Triveni Sangam we visit the holy Shivkoti Mahadev Temple or Someshwar Mahadev temple; a lord Shiva temple along River Yamuna’s banks. The temple enshrines the Lord in the shape of Ekadasa Rudra. Next we visit the famous Allahabad Fort. This historical fort was initially constructed by Emperor Ashoka but later renovated by Emperor Akbar. Zanana Palace, Saraswati Koop, lofty watch towers, and the Ashokan Pillar which dates back to 3rd century BCE are some of the major highlights of this gorgeous fort. After Allahabad fort we visit the Khusro Bagh. This tranquil and beautifully walled garden is home to the mausoleums of 3 famous personalities named Khusrau Mirza, Nithar Begum (his daughter), and Shah Begum (his wife). The 3 tombs exhibit beautifully the excellence of Mughal architecture. Next we visit the Anand Bhavan which had been the residence of Nehru family during their times. It has a Jawahar Planetarium within its campus and that makes the chief highlight of this site. After this we visit the All Saints Cathedral. This cathedral was built by Britishers and consecrated in the year 1887. Brilliant gothic revival architecture of the 13th century is exhibited at this cathedral. Next we visit the picturesque Alfred Park. This beautiful park is studded with scented flower plants and various other shrubs and herbs offering it a complete green setting all around. It is believed that this gorgeous park has been named after Chandrashekhar Azad, one of the great freedom fighters who sacrificed his life at this spot only while fighting for the independence of our country. This is an ideal place to sit, relax and stretch your sore, tired muscles. Soon after, you are transferred to the railway station where our representative sees you off and you depart for your onward journey back. Here ends your one day city tour of Allahabad.
